Betsy Copeland

This year is my 25th in education, all in DCS.  I have taught and loved all subjects in grades one, three, four, and five.  Reading and writing are my specialty and passion; I love reading out loud to my students and listening to their engaging discussions about the stories.

I earned my undergrad degree from the University of Mississippi.  along with  a Master's degree in Educational Leadership through the Ole Miss Principal Corps program.  

I am honored to rejoin the HLES Staff!  I first began my teaching journey here in 2000, so returning after all this time is very special.  Many fond memories were made in these halls early in my career, and I'm thrilled to be back and cannot wait to meet my sweet First Graders!  I'm also a 1996 HLHS graduate.  Go Eagles!

My two girls and I recently moved to Hernando where they attend HHS.  My oldest, Ainslee, will be a senior this year and plays both varsity and club volleyball.  She will soon commit to play college ball as well, so lots of exciting things happening!  Bella is my youngest and will be a sophomore.  She cheered while in middle school but chose not to continue doing so in high school.  If you're ever in Hernando's Mi Pueblo, you may see her working as the cashier/hostess.  :)
