Carrie Speck received her undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis. She began her teaching career with DeSoto County Schools in 2006. In 2014, Mrs. Speck was admitted into the Principal Corps program at Ole Miss where she earned a master's degree in educational leadership. She served as assistant principal at Southaven Elementary School for three years before being named principal at Horn Lake Intermediate School. This is her 5th year to serve as principal at Horn Lake Elementary School.
Mrs. Speck is married to her husband Jeremy. They have three children and reside in Hernando, MS. When Mrs. Speck is not serving the students and families of Horn Lake, she enjoys reading, running, and spending time outdoors with her family.
Mrs. Shakita Palmer, Assistant Principal
Shakita Palmer received her undergraduate degree from Delta State University. She began her teaching career in Greenville, MS. She earned her master’s degree in education from Strayer University. She joined DeSoto County Schools as a teacher in 2014. She later earned her specialist degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. This is her first year to serve as Assistant Principal at Horn Lake Elementary School.
Mrs. Palmer is married to her husband Craig. They have three children and reside in Southaven, MS. Mrs. Palmer enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with her family, and binge-watching her favorite shows.
